The boys had early release days this week, so we had some friends over to play to help pass the time!

It is very hard to get Jake and Tyler to both smile for a picture...it was impossible to get the 4 of these guys happy and looking at the camera at the same time! This one really was the best one!

Well, we had big winners at the Pinewood Derby! Their cars were FAST!!!

Tyler won 3rd place for his den and advanced to the finals. Jake won first place in his den and advanced to the finals. THEN, Tyler won 1st overall---out of all the cars, and Jake won 3rd overall! They were so happy, and we were so proud of them for working hard on their cars to make them so fast!

January has been really busy. The boys have started YMCA basketball again. This year, for the first time, they are on separate teams. Daniel is coaching Tyler's team, so he goes with him to all his practices and games. I take Jake to his practices (Wednesdays...like Tyler's) and if the schedule works out right, sometimes Daniel can go to Jake's games too. These are some pictures of the boys at Tyler's game. I don't know what they were talking about, but they looked so cute talking to each other here:

They were probably discussing Star Wars guys like Darth Maul, Asajji Ventress, Savage Oppress, "somebody the huttlet"....or it could be Ninjago Lego guys. That seems to be all they talk about lately!

We are really enjoying our time off during Christmas Break. Today, we went to the snake farm in New Braunfels, and went up to our neighborhood playground and practiced basketball.

A cold day at Cub Scouts

We all went to a Cub Scout BB Gun & Archery camp last weekend. We were supposed to spend the night, but it was raining and cold all day long. Luckily, our main events were in the morning, so after lunchtime, we headed home! The boys had fun shooting BB guns and using the bow and arrows. Pretty cool stuff!

Our first "event" was scheduled as free time. We walked around the scout camp, checking things out. We tossed a nerf football, and a frisbee around until the football landed in the pond!

The day had just started, but Tyler looks exhausted already!

We woke up to a wet, rainy morning, and Tyler's party was planned for outside. We had a plan "B" for indoor activities, but luckily the rain stopped and we were able to have a great time outside with bowling, water balloon launch, dodge ball, tackling football dummies and the pinata. Another successful birthday party! All the kids had so much fun!

We came home from all the Thanksgiving festivities and got out the Christmas stuff!

We went to Six Flags to see Santa Claus. Tyler told Santa he wanted a ventriloquist dummy, and Jake told him he wanted more track for his Polar Express train.

We spent our Thanksgiving break with the Allen's and the Mickle's. We were glad to get to spend some time with our families, and just have some free time!

We tried to fish on the jetties in Port Aransas. No fish : ( But, the boys had fun playing in the sand and collecting shells.

Enchanted Rock Camping Trip 10/22/11

We had an awesome campout at Enchanted Rock State Park just outside of Fredericksburg. The weather was great, the boys were happy...BEST campout ever!

WOW! We all made it! No one even complained about it!! Even 15 year old Patches made it up the rock. Daniel had to carry her a little bit, but she did most of it on her own little legs!

They made Taco Torpedos. Meat, salsa, onion, cheese rolled up into a tortilla and baked in the oven. I make something very similar to that at home, but Tyler does not like it.

But, here....he loved it. AND the "Potato-Leek Soup" which I thought he wouldn't even taste. He gave it a big thumbs up and a tummy rub! As we were walking out, he said, "That was the best food my little lips have ever tasted!!!"

Jake had an awesome birthday party on Saturday. Lots of friends and family were here to help us celebrate! It was an "Angry Birds" party with slingshots and a water balloon launcher! The boys had a blast!

This summer I finished my 4th quilt---this out of the boys' old baby blankets and sheets. I can't wait to cuddle up with it if it ever gets cold here!

Tyler always talks about getting a wiener dog when he grows up, and he wants to name him Frank. Yesterday at Cracker Barrel, what did we find??? A stuffed weiner dog, and his tag said---FRANK! Tyler loves his little dog.

Our sweet old Beagle turned 15 today! Happy Birthday Patches!

And, thankfully, Tyler's mohawk is history! Daniel gave them both haircuts last night and we said goodbye to the mohawk. Next summer he said he wants Daniel to cut lightning bolts into the side of his hair. Oh, boy!

Tyler's classmate is having a birthday party while we are going to be out of town. I told him he was invited but we couldn't go because we would be gone. He asked if he could still give her a present anyway! So, I talked to Chelsea's mom and she said we could go over to their house, or meet at Chick-fil-A for lunch. After telling all this to Tyler, he said very excitedly that he wanted to play with her at Chick-fil-A! AND, he picked out an awesome "girlie" gift...."Make It and Bake It" stained glass kit. This coming from the little boy who hates anything to do with girls....pink, glitter, Hello Kitty, Barbie, etc. etc... I was shocked, but just acted like it was a normal play date with one of his buddies. He had the best time, and Chelsea loved her present....gave Tyler a big hug. They were so cute! And, I am proud of my sweet, thoughtful Tyler!

After an early a.m. Dr. appt. downtown, we decided to walk over to Market Square and have some food and do a little shopping. Tyler wants to be a "Mexican" for Halloween! All his idea....after seeing a LEGO minifigure dressed in a huge sombrero and poncho.

Jake lost tooth #8 the other morning---early---around 3 a.m. CRAZY! He said, "Look, now I'm symmetrical!" (He is missing the teeth right beside his front teeth, and he has lost the 4 front and 4 bottom teeth)

California Vacation June 2011

We had so much fun on our vacation to San Diego! We spent 2 full days at Legoland, and the next day at the San Diego Zoo. Then, we drove 9 hrs. to Sacramento to see Donald, Lisa, Alexander and Olivia. We had fun with them at the pool, the playground, fishing, panning for gold, and visiting Lake Tahoe! We had a great vacation!

Day 3---San Diego Zoo. We loved seeing the gorillas, koala bears, polar bears and the pandas. It was a beautiful zoo.

Day 4 was our driving day. We left San Diego at 8:00 a.m. and drove all day to get to Sacramento at 6:30 p.m. This is where we stopped for lunch along the way. It was called Pyramid Lake, and it was so pretty!

Finally made it to the cousin's house! The kids had a lot of fun playing together!

We went to Coloma and the kids got to pan for gold. We had a picnic, and played tag, hide-and-seek and air darts.

Bubbles

The boys played with bubbles in the backyard this morning. I really love the pictures where Tyler is waving the bubble wand around his body. I told him to smile, but he said, "Wizards don't smile!" (He was pretending to be a wizard and that was his magic wand). That boy cracks me up!

My Jazzercise instructor's son plays for the Arkansas Travelers, who played the SA Missions the other night. We were able to go down to the dug-out and meet him and get autographs for the boys. They were so excited to meet a real baseball player! They cheered for him all night long. They made it through the whole game....and went to bed at 11:30!

We had a great evening at Jake's First Grade Reading Restaurant! Jake walked us to our table....even pulled out a chair for me (Wow!) He handed us a "menu" of poems, books and Power Point presentations to choose from. And, then he read everything to us! He is an awesome reader and is following in his Dadddy's footsteps with the technology stuff. We were very impresed with his Power Point program! Way to go Jake!

On Easter morning, the boys found eggs in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard, and we had some fun with confetti eggs!

Walk-A-Thon

Jake and Tyler had a "Walk-A-Thon" to raise money for their school. Tyler walked 10 laps, and Jake walked 14. They did a great job and raised a total of $108 for their school!
